Life in the city.

Edgewater New Jersey ~ a view of Manhattan.

ExploreJerseyOn a mostly cloudy day, the gray sky casted an eerie shadow over Northern Jersey. My day had started out on track - breakfast in NYC, Subway ride to Penn Station followed by a train ride to New Jersey. I managed to hit the right stops and timed everything perfectly. I arrived at the car rental agency anticipating I would be driving the Jersey suburbs in no time. The devil is in the fine print.

Rewind 3 days to Las Vegas: My wallet started falling apart and has been ruining my new debit cards one after another to the point they won't swipe. Rachel and I headed out for a shopping spree and I decide to look for a new wallet. As I'm switching out my cards into the new wallet, I decide to rid myself of excess cards that I never or rarely use. Shopping club cards, punch cards to a dozen different restaurants, you get the idea... well I also had one credit card in case of emergency, but I hadn't used it in at least a year, maybe more, so I decided to ditch it...

We sadly have not updated the blog in much too long! We've celebrated a few major events to kick off 2011. After two more grueling months of having the house hang over our heads, we finally sealed the deal on March 2! The close and signing were official. Yay yay yay! On the same day, Sebastian got a job offer as the Food and Beverage Manager of The Sky Lodge in Park City! It was a very eventful and emotional day, as you might imagine. We've had a lot to celebrate as our lives move into an entirely different direction.

Christmas has come and gone in a flash this year. I recently started working at two restaurants in Park City and, without senority, I was stuck working both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I managed to spend a couple of hours with my family, but only saw Rachel for twenty minutes in the morning before heading out the door. The two of us did manage to visit my mom's on the 26th to celebrate her birthday and open Christmas gifts. When I was there the day before, there was a huge pile of gifts stacked along one wall of the cabin. Upon returning the next day, they had all vanished - apparently most of them were Jett's (my nephew). My parents went a little overboard with their gift buying this year for him. He's just old enough to have fun opening the gifts, which surprised me since he is just over one year old, so at least there was some excitement for him too.

“The use of traveling is to regulate imagination by reality, and instead of thinking how things may be, to see them as they are.”
